What made you chose kickboxing?

I started Karate when I was 6. I had to leave this club when I was 9 as it was linked to my school. I tried a few different clubs as I loved martial arts. When I found Leighton Buzzard Kickboxing Academy (Age 10) I could see everyone was kind and wanted to help and support each other. I knew I had found a great club

What do you enjoy most about your training?

Getting out of the house, forgetting other worries like school. Being able to enjoy a club with people who have become my friends. I like learning new skills and I enjoy challenging myself and being able to improve.

Have you found something challenging in your training and how did you overcome it?

I find forms difficult, however, I overcome this with practice. When I cant physically practice it I keep going over it in my head. I also know I can ask anyone in the club for support and they will help me

Have you ever wanted to quit – what stopped you?

I have never wanted to quit!

What is your favourite technique?

I love spinning hook kick. I love practicing it and showing other people how to do it and I use it in sparing a lot.

What else would you like to achieve in martial arts?

I would like to learn every move and I want to be able to help others learn too.  I would like to go into a comeptition and know enough to feel confident. I want to also aim for my black belt as I feel it would be a reward for all my hard work.

Is there something that you are especially proud of?

My commitment and perseverance to keep going no matter how difficult times have times have been.

What advice would you give to someone new to kickboxing?

Don’t take it too seriously, it is a way to get away from the hard things in life that you might be going through and it is a great way to meet new people and learn together. There is always support in the club.
