Is it Karate or Kickboxing?
Our official style is Contact Karate, this combines techniques from Thai & Western Boxing, Kickboxing and Shotokan.
Kickboxing is a Japanese hybrid martial art basically comprising of elements of punching and kicking. It was developed by adapting fighting techniques from Karate, Western boxing, and Muay Thai. It originated in 1960s in Japan and was said to have been developed to keep the soul of Karate but allowing full stricking techniques. .
Full Contact Karate, as it was originally called became known as Kickboxing, however, some styles remained as Contact Karate. We were one of those styles. So you will get the benefit of learning the combination of traditional and modern style martial arts, known as Contact Karate.
We refer to ourselves as Kickboxing as this reflects more the styl we compete at, but we incorporate contact karate techniques and are affiliated by the English Contact Karate Association, under WAKO (world association kickboxing association).
